New apprentice as an industrial mechanic

07.09.2022

There is a new face in our mechanical workshop. Philipp Alexander started his training as an industrial mechanic on 1 August. The 19-year-old revealed in a short interview why his school internships laid the foundation for his career choice and how he experienced the first weeks of training.

New apprentice as an industrial mechanic

Hello Alex, what made you actually decide to train as an industrial mechanic?

I had done several internships in the craft sector while I was still at school and quickly realised that I have skills and that this area is absolutely my thing.

And why did you ultimately choose Lütgert as your training company?

When I was looking for an apprenticeship as an industrial mechanic, I only came across Lütgert by chance. I live very close by. I liked it so much during an internship in the workshop that I officially applied. I immediately felt at home in the Lütgert team and was allowed to help out straight away. You quickly notice that Lütgert is a family company. The people are there for each other. I was very happy to be accepted!

What do you expect from your vocational training at Lütgert?

I want to expand my craft knowledge and to learn a lot. I am super motivated and hope to inspire other young people for the craft!

What interests and talents should one have for the industrial mechanic profession?

It is important that you already have some manual skills and spatial awareness. You should also be a team player.

How does the vocational school work?

This semester we had vocational school on one fixed day of the week. In the next semester there will be two weekdays.

The first month of training is now over. What is your impression?

My first impression is positive! I feel warmly welcomed, respected and I am also allowed to work directly. If I make a mistake, they patiently explain to me how to do it better next time. So there is no immediate trouble. I have already met the other Lütgert trainees and get along well with them.
